2013 UNCHAINED THEATRE FESTIVAL – BETTER KNOW A PLAY

LACE: A Short Play

by Jodi Gibson

The Basics:

Who are you and what is your show in this year’s Unchained Festival?

I’m Jodi Gibson, the director and playwright of Lace: A Short Play.

The Show:

Tell us a little about Lace: A Short Play

Lace: A Short Play is an abstract, surrealistic tale about a woman’s quest for agency. It challenges the positioning of women in our society as it focuses on the interaction between a Woman, and the people around her who seem less inclined to support her ideas for independence. This production challenges its audience members as it questions the distinction between spectator and participant.

The Experience:

What is one thing that audiences will see/hear/feel watching your show that they will not see/hear/feel anywhere else?

People will have very different experiences with this show. Expressionism, surrealism, and abstract works are not often produced. Having lace be a part of this festival is an exciting opportunity for us to present our ideas and vision as they are contained in a non-traditional manner.
