2013 UNCHAINED THEATRE FESTIVAL – BETTER KNOW A PLAY
by Jonathan Zimmerman
Who are you and what is your show in this year’s Unchained Festival?
I’m Jonathan Zimmerman, the playwright of Alas.
Tell us a little about Alas…
Alas is a play about a play about marriage. And death. But mostly marriage. It’s the deconstruction of a relationship through the mind of a writer who is terrified by everything: Commitment, babies, love. Life, basically. It’s also, ultimately, about control, and learning you don’t have any of it. And it’s funny!
What is one thing that audiences will see/hear/feel watching your show that they will not see/hear/feel anywhere else?
We have such an absurdly talented team of actors and creatives working on this production. These actors are f’’n hilarious. Audiences will find a production that makes them laugh so hard that they won’t even realize they were whisked away on a cathartic dramaturgical roller coaster until they are safely back at home.
